This is an experimental documentary about the story of a Chinese American transgender woman, shedding light on the delicacy, vulnerability, and underrepresentation of this community. I captured the mundane everyday moments of her life as she reflected on what it’s like to be Chinese, a woman, and trans, and how these identities intersect and shape her experience. In contrast to the glitzy portrayal of transgender lives in drag shows and other media, this story offers a glimpse into the ordinary yet difficult journey of a transwoman of color, acknowledging Asian transwomen’s narratives, mental health, and the unique struggles they face.
