Pritam Patowary is a filmmaker based in Kolkata, West Bengal. A cinephile with a profound interest in storytelling, he started his career as a freelance writer. In 2019, he co-founded an independent filmmaking group named Bioscopic Arena and since then, he has been involved with the group with the sole aim of creating films that contribute and strengthen the aesthetics of cinema.
According to him, his works are very personal and deeply interconnected with his own experiences. His first documentary film "Behind the Mud" bagged the Best Documentary Award in FilmGatha by The North-Eastern Chronicle, Assam, India.
He has been invited for a virtual personal interview in the prestigious Raindance Film Festival (London) and his short film ‘Requiem For Hope’ has been screened at Lift-Off Film Festival (U.K.), 3rd Independent Film Weekend (Germany), Ram Lal Anand College (Delhi University). He is currently pursuing his Masters in Film Studies at Jadhavpur University.
