Greek-American writer and director Julie Zografos received honors from the Directors Guild of America and the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences for her undergraduate short films and went on to become a Sundance Screenwriters Intensive Fellow. She was the recipient of the Henry Hoyns Fellowship from the University of Virginia where she earned her MFA. She currently teaches screenwriting at top ten film school University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where she received her BFA in Directing, and serves as Director of Communications for The Writers Lab, supported by Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, Oprah Winfrey and Cate Blanchett. She writes and directs intimate, character-driven stories that reflect the grittiness of life, but leave room for unexpected lyricism. Her work often centers themes of voice and muteness, redemption, and the immigrant experience.
