I met Quinny in the Pan-African bookshop that she ran in Barcelona. I was struck by her belief in the power of art and words to effect change, a belief which permeated all her work whether running the bookshop or writing poetry.

A few months after meeting her, I was drawn back to her story. Due to Covid, I was self-isolating and during that time I read the essays of Audre Lorde. Her essays on the erotic and poetry led me back to thinking about Quinny and inspired me to explore how the erotic and poetry can set everyone free.
