When I made this film, I had a lot of close friends of mine getting married, couples moving in together, all in their early twenties. I wanted to explore this question of two people at different places in the development of their relationship. Placing them in the house was meant to give the feeling of a world away from the world, so as we track their story together, the feeling of their intertwined lives feels tied to the house. This emphasis on physical place is meant to draw on how the spaces we inhabit reflect our desires and shortcomings.
