Life is a lot like getting bread from a store. You have aspirations and work hard to achieve them despite the nonsense that surrounds us all. In the end, you needn't have tried; you always had exactly as much bread as you needed, and your actions do not sway the universe in any way. This is beside the point, however. The journey is what matters and brings us happiness.
At least that's one interpretation of the film. I also just wanted to channel pure creativity, nonsense, and desperate joy onto a screen.
