Welcome Teachers & Students!

As of January 31, 2022, with the close of the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, the short films featured on this page have been archived to protect their privacy and continued festival life-cycle. The page will remain active as a resource students interested in filmmaking can revisit. Although students won't be able to watch the films any longer, they can still read through the meet the artist pages, watch the filmmaker Q&As and click through the filmmaking resources. We hope you enjoyed the 2022 Sundance Film Festival: The Art of the Short online showcase!

The 2022 Sundance Film Festival: The Art of the Short is an online showcase of short films from this year's festival lineup, curated and hosted by the Sundance Utah Community Team and Sundance Collab, to provide students exclusive access to independent cinema and the filmmakers behind each project.

The program consists of five mini-programs, with each program featuring pre-recorded filmmaker Q&As available to watch here at any time through the duration of the festival (January 20 - 30, 2022). Filmmaker Q&As provide students a first-hand look into the development and production of the short films included in this showcase, as well as insight into the filmmaking process in general.

To screen the films, navigate to any of the five program sections below, click on the film tiles and enter the password provided to you by the Sundance Utah Community Team. Each film is password protected as an added layer of security for Sundance filmmakers.

To watch the filmmaker Q&As, click on the Filmmaker Q&A tile in each program. Because this program was specially curated for students, content advisories for any films with strong language or controversial themes are included with the film description.

Hosted on Sundance Collab, Sundance Institute's digital platform for learning and community for independent creators across the globe, this page offers students an entry point to Sundance Collab. Included at the end of the page, we have organized four curated lists of resources to help guide students in building and supporting their filmmaking practice, including a guide to how students can continue their creative journeys with Sundance Collab.

Thank you for joining us!
