Spotlights feature conversations with high-profile film and television industry professionals who share helpful advice and insights on their career experiences and creative processes.

Join Sundance Collab for an exclusive Spotlight Event with visionary director Bill Condon (Chicago, Dreamgirls, The Greatest Showman) as he reflects on his work in crafting breakout films, returning to his indie filmmaking roots, his creative process, and bringing a fresh perspective to his latest film, Kiss of the Spider Woman, which is based on the 1976 novel by the same name.

In Kiss of the Spider Woman, Luis Molina (Tonatiuh), a flamboyant window dresser imprisoned for his sexuality, escapes the harsh reality of his confinement by recounting the glamorous plot of his favorite musical. His stoic cellmate, Valentin Arregui (Diego Luna), a committed political revolutionary, initially scoffs at the escapism but soon finds himself drawn into the fantasy world and the unlikely bond forming between them. At the heart of Molina’s fantasy is the dazzling screen diva Ingrid Luna (Jennifer Lopez), but as the line between reality and illusion blurs, the two men must confront their own truths and the dangerous forces that seek to break them.

In this exclusive conversation, Condon will delve into the process of adapting the celebrated novel for a new era, the intricacies of directing spectacular musical numbers, and his experience collaborating with a star-studded cast to explore the film's deep themes of escapism, humanity, and resistance.

Kiss of the Spider Woman is being released in theaters on October 10th.
