The story came about as a way to challenge myself both as a filmmaker and a storyteller. My original thesis project got canceled due to COVID-19, and while I was saddened it didn't work out, I did see it as an opportunity to create within my limitations. Slice of Envy was a step outside my comfort zone as well because I don't particularly work in the horror drama. Therefore, this film came about to prove what I can do as an artist.
