Weiko Lin

Screenwriter / Producer

Born in Taiwan, Weiko immigrated to Los Angeles when he was eight years old. A finalist of AMPAS Nicholl Fellowship, recipient of a Samuel Goldwyn Writing Award, and a Fulbright Senior Specialist, he earned his MFA in Film and TV - Screenwriting and B.A. in English - Creative Writing at UCLA.

He has written projects for The Mark Gordon Company, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, Ivanhoe Pictures/SK Global, Don Mischer Productions, Wanda Pictures (China), and The Unison Company (Taiwan).

Native fluent in Mandarin, he produced and wrote the original story for the Chinese language romance film 100 DAYS 真愛100天 that world premiered at Hawaii International Film Festival followed by a nationwide theatrical release in Taiwan. It was also an official selection at the 23rd Golden Rooster Hundred Flowers Film Festival in Mainland China. His other writing credits include Shanghai Disney Opening Ceremony and Huading Global Film Awards executive produced by Emmy winner Don Mischer.

Weiko adapted the feature in development based on the New York Times best-selling memoir RIVER TOWN by MacArthur Fellow Peter Hessler for Fugitive Films and director Lu Chuan (CITY OF LIFE AND DEATH, Disney's BORN IN CHINA). In television, he has written a pilot based on a Penguin YA novel for Super Deluxe and is a director in the Ryan Murphy Television HALF Initiative Program.

Currently, he is developing a television series based on a Simon & Schuster memoir and a feature biopic set in WWII with an Oscar-nominated producer.

From publisher of Save the Cat! and The Writer’s Journey, Weiko's book Crazy Screenwriting Secrets: How to Capture a Global Audience is available wherever books are sold with the Mainland Chinese edition set to publish in 2021.

A current-active member of Writers Guild of America West and Dramatist Guild, he is represented by Anonymous Content and United Talent Agency.
