Tucker Papa

While hosting a dinner party, a wife reveals to her husband that she has another man in her life, launching a long-awaited argument between the two. Through alternating the narration, both parties explain their half of the marriage and outline their issues with the other. At the end of their laments, an irreconcilable and unresolved dispute is uncovered, causing the husband and wife to finally confront their long unspoken differences and face the truth of their relationship.

As a young filmmaker, I’ve felt the both collaborative and competitive nature of trying to gain recognition. Some people persevere, but many fall behind, and others do what they believe is necessary to accomplish their goals, even if it means undermining their peers. The Slicks investigates this balance between ambition and integrity. I wanted to further explore my experience with writing and the irrational desperation that can accompany a deadline; by centering this film around two writers I am able to feature different philosophies.
