I choose to tell this specific story because it was mine to tell. It's based on my true life events of my childhood trauma with my mother translating into my adult relationships - specifically my first one - and my journey to taking accountability for my actions. I felt this story is very relatable outside of the LGBTQIA+ community because a lot of us have a matriarchal figure that has affected us subconsciously in some way. It's not just my story, it's theirs as well.
