Roni Niu

Roni is a Taiwanese filmmaker and animator based in London. He started his creative career while studying at Newcastle University, with experience animating for artists such as Khruangbin and Knxwledge, participating in W+K London’s The Kennedys 2020 and Livity’s In Future List 2022. Roni’s independent animated short film Sunny Side Up was screened in film festivals worldwide. His debut screenplay Room Temperature was selected as a Finalist in Shore Script Short Film Fund and is now in development for production. Upon graduating with his undergraduate degree in July 2022, Roni relocated to London and has been creating short films under the name Bagels - a filmmaking duo with his best friend, Patrick Carlo Bangit. Bagels was selected to participate in OTV and Tape Collective’s BraveFuturesLDN Film Race, their short film Grass Patch premiered in Rich Mix Cinema and took home the Most Thought-Provoking Award. It is now streaming internationally on OTV. Roni is currently working as a Trainee with the UK's National Film & Television School and Amazon Prime Video.
