Arnold Mwanjila

I am a writer and director based in Nairobi, Kenya. I graduated from Columbia University in the City of New York with an undergraduate degree in Film Studies and Economics. I am also an alumnus of Mira Nair's MAISHA SCREENWRITING LAB in Kenya. I have worked in various capacities in the film and TV industries and in theatre, both in New York and in Nairobi. I have written and directed for various award-winning TV Shows including “MAMA DUKA”, “PENDO”, “AUNTIE BOSS”, for which I received a BEST DIRECTOR nomination at the 2017 RIVERWOOD ACADEMY AWARDS, and "VARSHITA" as well, a spin-off of Auntie Boss on MNet/ MAISHA MAGIC I am the Creator, Head Writer and Director of “WALIOBAKI”, a family sitcom that aired on KTN in 2016-2017, which I developed through MEDIA HUB AFRICA LTD, a production company that I co-founded in 2014 and where I serve as Creative Director. WALIOBAKI received two nominations at the 2017 KALASHA FILM & TV AWARDS: BEST COMEDY and BEST PERFORMANCE IN A COMEDY for Fevan Abraham, one of the three kids on the show. I am also the Writer and Director of “AISHA”, “SIRI” and “NAKUCHEKI”, 3 TV Movies commissioned of MEDIA HUB AFRICA LTD by MAISHA MAGIC. AISHA was nominated in SEVEN categories at the 2017 KALASHA Awards as well, including BEST FEATURE FILM, BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY, and BEST DIRECTOR, winning TWO AWARDS, for the BEST LIGHTING & BEST PRODUCTION DESIGN. I am currently developing my debut feaure film, a fantasy-thriller based on a local myth, which shall go into production in a few months. ---- MEDIA HUB AFRICA LTD. is a production house dedicated to the creation of original content by African producers for African and International Markets.
