“Mier” is about the San people’s struggle for the Kalahari and its resources. The story is set in the Kalahari desert and surrounding water pans. The short focuses on two aspects of the overall story, the ‡Khomani San struggle for their land and the crossroads where the modern world meets the old world and how much this land has changed since the introduction of oil and gas drilling in the area and the introduction of Private Military Contractors who are contracted to protect these sites.
