Myrdéliz Montes

I wrote this story about a young queer interracial couple between a deaf Japanese genderfluid kid and an African American cisgender boy. I wanted to shine a light on healthy and unhealthy relationships between family members/friends/couples, and create more representation for disabled, queer, and trans people of color, and immigrants. Especially for Mirai, I created a character that I could relate to; being a gender fluid and bisexual person who moved to the United States with their family that is struggling financially. I'm telling a story about emotional intimacy, empathy, and resilience.
