McKinleigh Lair is a documentary filmmaker from Oklahoma with a keen interest in observation. She has assisted on productions for The New York Times and Kartemquin Films, and pre-screens for POV and the Camden International Film Festival. As the Oklahoma representative for PBS American Portrait, she shoots and edits mini documentaries about residents in the community that raised her. As a 2020 Southern Exposure Film Fellow, she uses documentary to advocate for environmental justice on behalf of Alabamian conservation groups. Her documentaries have been programmed by PBS and NFFTY, and received nominations for honors like the 2020 College Television Award (“College Emmy”) and the 2015 Heartland Emmy. A former collegiate tennis player, McKinleigh is developing a new documentary following an OKC tennis program that supports underserved youth. As a Park Scholar at Ithaca College (class of May 2019) she received her B.A. in Documentary Studies and Production, minored in Anthropology, and studied abroad in Seoul, London, and Jönköping, Sweden.
