Mawou Djelhi Yahot

I chose to tell this story because as a child of immigrants parents, it is evident that our parents struggle with their culture's expectations versus their wants and needs. I grew up with my mother who gave up her career and aspirations to be my mother in a loveless marriage. This story represents the countless women of color who are forced to live in toxic environments as their mental health suffers. This is a story about a woman who gave everything up to be a mother but soon begins to regret it.
