Manuel S. Umo started his career as a filmmaker by being embedded in conflict zones such as Kosovo and the Middle East, where his collaborations with BBC World gave him the opportunity to get experience operating a camera, editing and producing. Awarded with scholarships by the Cultural Ministry of his native Spain to study at the film department of NYU (SPS), he began shooting his first shorts in New York and later moved to Los Angeles to form his own production company, a platform for producing commercial work. He holds dual US-Spain citizenship and is based in Los Angeles. He speaks four languages.
