As someone who has struggled in the past with body dysmorphia and eating disorders, I have seen the devastating influence social media has had on my generation firsthand. Teens, especially young women, are pressured into fitting unrealistic beauty standards, feeling they would do anything to look "perfect."Therefore, by presenting us with a drug that gives its users the body of their dreams, and the harmful and gruesome addiction our main character develops for it, we are made to directly reflect our habits of consumption, and whether or not we are overlooking hidden threats in the pursuit of self-worth.
