Shot over 12 hours at former commune in Northern California, Far West began as a reason to make a blood squib and shoot in a crazy place.It became a piece about the myth and reality of the American West. Who brandishes the mantle of masculinity, violence, change -- and who really bears it? It's about brotherhood, country music, and a way forward.

I wrote "The Man in the Fiber Optic Cable" during Covid, while living, training, and doing online school from a remote cabin in Idaho. I was taking a class about digital media and the hidden labor and exploitation that goes into it. At the same time, I was grappling with my own injuries and struggles with isolation. The script was originally a short story, but I realized it was better suited to a visual medium.Thanks to some creative problem solving and about half my cross-country team, I was able to realize my goal. I'm so excited to share it.
