When are you more anxious than when you anticipate a surprise? Everything in your house says a killer is behind that door, but the lights turn on and soon everybody sings "happy birthday". The two reasons I wanted to capture this in my film were to experiment with horror using an innocent story, and to express my own apprehension with vulnerability at college. During my first year, I was wary of expressing myself to people I just met. I wanted to dramatize my fears in this film, where invitations into your world are sent to the wrong people.
