Jason Ropell

Jason is a partner and the Chief Content Officer at MUBI – a producer, distributor and the world’s leading platform for hand-picked high-quality films. Jason oversees the company’s development, production, acquisitions, theatrical distribution, platform licensing, and editorial. Operating in 255 territories, MUBI releases include THE DECISION TO LEAVE (US/CA, UK, TR, IN), AFTERSUN (UK/IE, DE, LatAm, IT, ES, FR, BLX, TR, IN & MY), THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD (UK/IE, IN). MUBI is due to release PASSAGES (USA, CA, UK/IE, LATAM, DE/AT, IT, TUR, IN & BLX) this summer. Jason also oversees The Match Factory, a leading international sales agent and production company acquired by MUBI in 2021. Prior, Jason was the VP of World Wide Motion Pictures at Amazon and founded Amazon’s film studio in 2015. Releases include MANCHESTER BY THE SEA (seven Oscar nominations, two wins), THE SALESMAN (one Oscar win), THE BIG SICK (one Oscar nomination) and COLD WAR (three Oscar nominations), as well as bold, filmmaker-driven fare YOU WERE NEVER REALLY HERE (Lynne Ramsay), THE NEON DEMON (Nicolas Winding Refn), SUSPIRIA (Luca Guadagnino), and PATERSON (Jim Jarmusch). Ropell joined Amazon in 2012 overseeing all content on Amazon’s international video platforms in Europe, and launching their video service in Japan.
