Henry Barrial

Director, Writer

Henry Barrial is an independent writer-director of Some Body (2001 Sundance Dramatic Competition), Pig (2011), The House that Jack Built (2013) and DriverX (2017). 

Henry studied acting (Meisner) but began directing using improvisational techniques to make his first two films. His short, The Lonelys, won awards at several festivals. Barrial's ultra low-budget ($3,000) Some Body premiered at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival in Dramatic Competition and released theatrically. In 2003 Barrial's True Love was selected by the Sundance Screenwriters Lab and performed in the Sundance Reading Series. Henry’s Lo-Fi/Sci-Fi film Pig, was acquired at 2013 Comic-Con By Kino-Lorber. Henry next directed The House that Jack Buiilt about a Nuyorican family in the Bronx. The all-Latino cast features E. J. Bonilla and Melissa Fumero. Henry’s DriverX was released in theaters by IFC on November 30th, 2018. Is currently streaming on HULU. When not filming, Henry teaches at the New York Film Academy.
