Granville Davis

I wanted to take the nuclear family ideals of the 1960s and flip them on its head. I liked focusing on a career-focused woman and a family-man father. As an African American, I wanted to showcase a version of a black father whose goal was to have children. I believe showing a black dad who cared for his child unconditionally isn't something we see often. It was also important for me to break down the stereotypical gender roles that existed at that time. I felt aspects of each of the characters because I experienced those moments during my parent's divorce.
