Geena Marie Hernandez was born to a family of techies, so naturally she ended up in the arts. She is a filmmaker born and raised in vibrant South Florida who loves to tell bold stories that push the boundaries of genre, mix humanity with hilarity, taking place in worlds with saturated colors. Since graduating from Florida State University's College of Motion Picture Arts in 2020, she has worked directly under the Producers as their assistant on the final season of The Walking Dead (AMC) and Seasons 3 & 4 of Atlanta (FX). In 2021, Geena was a recipient of the WAVE Grant awarded by multi-Sundance winning studio Wavelength Productions for her newest short film “Chicks.” Her films have screened and been nominated for awards at festivals such as the Oscar-qualifying Florida Film Festival, NFFTY, HBO/Warner Media’s NY Latino Film Fest, Outfest Fusion and Portland. She is determined to continue making vivid movies featuring diversity in front and behind the camera, and collaborating with filmmakers that inspire her.
