The idea of “Engourdi” started after I learned about the horrific death of George Floyd. The way it shook the world. The way it made me realize things about myself. I wanted to make a film about the ways we handle black death in the media. I wanted to make a film that raised questions about who we are as people. To me, it’s about humanizing our experiences and allowing us to be people. We all share an experience, the human experience. I want this film to allow people to have conversations, and see a different perspective.

A coming of age story about an all black preparatory school following four boys, and their desire to follow their dreams through art.

Written and directed by Gary Pierrot Jr. comes a new piece of work that is unlike anything he has done before. "The Veil" is an excerpt taken from "Dear Black Boys" a new poetry book focusing on the masculinity and vulnerability of black men.
