Shaped by her Colombian-American upbringing, Gabriella Canal is a documentary filmmaker who creates character-driven stories about identity and belonging, with a focus on women’s voices. Her work has earned a Student Academy Award and been published by The New Yorker. Her projects have been Webby- and Emmy-nominated. In 2022, she became a Pulitzer Center Fellow and an adjunct professor at Columbia's Graduate School of Journalism. Her films have screened at Tribeca, DOCNYC, Mountainfilm, and more.
