As a filmmaker and film lover, I find myself transfixed with stories like these... stories about anti-heroic characters whose problems deal with ethics and morality. While watching these movies, I often question my own ethics and morality and ponder different outcomes. Cereal depicts a possible scenario, which often plays out in many households, yet is an unspoken rule amongst many families... favoritism. It also highlights the depth of the bond between two brothers, growing up in a household where one is knowingly highly favored, yet the other is often neglected and abused.

Kane, a perfectionist collegiate athlete whose parents crashed into a semi-truck on the way to his tournament, decides to run away from life after hearing the news of his parents' tragic end. Leaving the tournament and the team, alone over the next year, he struggles until he decides to take his life. Coincidentally his ex-teammates see him and encourage him to return to the gym.Upon his return, Kane has to prove/win over the stone-cold Coach Quinn to rejoin the team and re-work his way up the ranks to become a champion on the mat and in life.

This film follows the trials and tribulations of a young, African American man, KG, struggling with alcoholism. He WANTS to get clean, but given life’s pressures ofhaving a terminally ill mother, financial hardships and relationship failures, KG just can’t seem to catch a break. Oh, and a $10,000 BET THAT HE LOST AND MUST PAY to a local gang member in 14 days! KG starts to lose himself in the chaos that becomes his overwhelming life. After many wild instances like dealing with loan sharks and shooting porn for money, he comes out on top... in his own way.

With increasing violence in his neighborhood, a young man, Reece, fights for his community regardless of the consequences.
