Diana Bustamante Escobar, cineasta y programadora, estudió cine en la Universidad Nacional de Colombia y Artes Plásticas en la Escuela Popular de Arte de Medellín. Ha contribuido constantemente al reconocimiento internacional del cine colombiano, produciendo películas como LOS VIAJES DEL VIENTO de Ciro Guerra, EL VUELCO DEL CANGREJO de Oscar Ruiz, ganador del Premio FIPRESCI 2010 en BERLÍN, LA PLAYA DC (Cannes 2012) de Juan Andrés Arango, LA SIRGA de William Vega (Cannes 2012), LOS HONGOS de Oscar Ruiz-Navia (Locarno 2014), LA TIERRA Y LA SOMBRA de César Augusto Acevedo y ganadora de la Caméra d'Or en el Festival de Cine de Cannes en 2015. Más reciente, fue productora de la película MEMORIA de Apichatpong Weerasrhakul, ganadora del premio de Jurado en el Festival de cine de Cannes 2021.

También ha coproducido películas como LOS MEJORES TEMAS de Nicolas Pereda, REFUGIADO de Diego Lerman (Cannes 2014) y CÓMPRAME Un Revolver de Julio Hernández-Cordón (Cannes 2018), entre otros. Su trabajo propone una construcción constante de puentes entre el cine latinoamericano y otras culturas y puntos de vista, y ha centrado sus esfuerzos para promover coproducciones e intercambios culturales a través del cine.

Desde 2014 hasta 2018, ha sido directora artística y programadora principal del Festival Internacional de Cine de Cartagena (FICCI) y últimamente ha participado en numerosos festivales y jurados de fondos, en Sarajevo (SFF), Buenos Aires (BAFICI), Amsterdam (IDFA), Semain de la Critic de Cannes, y Ficunam, entre otros.

Como curadora ha colaborado con instituciones como La Cinemateca Distrital de Bogotá, el Festival de Cine Francés en Colombia y el Instituto Goethe en numerosos programas especiales; actualmente es programadora del festival de cine de Biarritz y colabora en muestras especiales independientes de varias instituciones y galerías.

Diana Bustamante Escobar, filmmaker and film programmer, studied cinema at the National University of Colombia and over the past years, has consistently contributed to the international recognition of Colombian cinema, most notably by producing films such as THE WIND JOURNEYS by Ciro Guerra, CRAB TRAP by Oscar Ruiz (winner of the 2010 FIPRESCI Prize in Berlin), LA PLAYA DC (Cannes 2012) by Juan Andrés Arango, THE TOWROPE by Willian Vega (Cannes 2012), LOS HONGOS by Oscar Ruiz-Navia (Locarno 2014), LAND AND SHADE by César Augusto Acevedo and winner of the Caméra d'Or Award at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, and most recently VIOLENCIA by Jorge Forero (Forum Berlinale 2015). Most recently, she produced the film MEMORIA by Apichatpong Weerasrhakul starring Tilda Swinton, winner of the Jury Prize at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival.

She also has co-produced Greatest Hits by Nicolas Pereda, REFUGIADO by Diego Lerman (Cannes 2014) and BUY ME A GUN by Julio Hernádez (Cannes 2018), amongst others. Her work builds bridges between Latin-American cinema and other cultures and points of views. She has centered her efforts to promote co-productions and better cultural exchanges through film.

Since 2014 to 2018 she has been the Artistic Director and main programmer of the Cartagena International Film Festival (FICCI) and has lately taken part in numerous festivals and fund juries in Sarajevo (SFF), Buenos Aires (BAFICI), Amsterdam (IDFA), Semain de la Critic Cannes, and Ficunam, among others.

As a curator, she has collaborated with institutions like La Cinemateca Distrital de Bogotá, French Film Festival in Colombia, and the Goethe Institute in numerous special programs. Currently, she is a programmer at the Biarritz film festival and collaborates on other independent curatorial projects with various institutions and galleries.
