Derbbsss - Sundance Collab

I am a passionate storyteller and filmmaker from Africa, deeply committed to bringing African stories to a global audience. As a filmmaker and cinematographer, I believe in the power of images to tell stories that resonate across cultures and borders. My journey has been about capturing the essence of our experiences, our heritage, and our dreams. Through each project, from HER DARK PAST to REKIYA, I strive to use cinematic tools to craft visuals that speak to the heart, showcasing African narratives with authenticity and impact.

In a world where young girls are forced into marriages with much older men, Rekiya fights to break free from the oppressive grip of tradition and reclaim her future. This collaborative film was brought to life through the combined efforts of a dedicated team. As the cinematographer, I worked closely with the director and crew to visually translate Rekiya’s emotional journey, using light, composition, and movement to amplify the story’s impact. Together, we aimed to create a powerful and authentic portrayal of resilience and hope
