Darius Dawson is an LA-based director and former cinematographer. His AFI thesis film, A RODEO FILM, won the 2019 DGA Student Grand Prize Award, the Golden Tadpole at the 2020 Camerimage Cinematography Festival, was selected as one of five films to take part in HBO’s Short Film Competition in Miami and is currently available on HBOMax. Darius made his SVOD debut just four months after graduating from AFI, directing on Peter and Bob Farrelly’s Quibi show, THE NOW, currently available on the Roku Channel. Most recently he directed the second unit on Peter’s newest feature film, The Greatest Beer Run Ever, starring Zac Efron and Russel Crowe, available on Apple TV. Darius hails from North Carolina and attended NYU Tisch School of the Arts and the AFI Conservatory for cinematography and directing respectively. Initially a cinematographer lensing projects primarily in Southeast Asia, Darius now primarily writes and directs long form content.
