Sam’s second feature, Seaside, a revenge thriller starring Tony Nominee Ariana DeBose (Anita in upcoming Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story, Tony nominee for The Donna Summer Musical, Hamilton) won the Best Feature Jury Award at the Klamath Independent Film Festival. His first feature, You Belong to Me, a psychological horror story with a gay lead, was shortlisted for the Independent Spirit Award’s Someone to Watch Award and screened at Frameline, Outfest, Palm Springs, San Diego FilmOut (Audience Award, Best First Feature), and NewFest (Honorable Mention). Sam has directed on A Crime to Remember and I, Witness (Discovery ID). His short How to Make it to the Promised Land, about a girl forced to play a Holocaust role-play game at summer camp, has over 7,000 views online and he directed and produced the webseries, The Go-Getters. He also created a series of 20 videos on breast cancer survivors as well as videos for non-profit organizations such as Prep for Prep. Residencies include the MacDowell Colony, VCCA, and Fundación Valparaiso. Sam teaches in the Spalding University Low Residency MFA in Writing. BA, studio art, Yale; MFA, film, NYU Tisch.
