Bárbara Merlos is a Mexican-born, Los Angeles-based screenwriter, director, and producer whose work bridges borders and genres. Originally from Guadalajara, she holds degrees in Audiovisual Arts and Communication Sciences and Techniques, and further honed her craft at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where she earned certificates in Film & TV Development and Independent Filmmaking. A passionate storyteller, Bárbara specializes in crafting original concepts and developing content across both scripted and unscripted formats for film and television. Her directorial credits include a wide range of television programs for leading production companies such as Fremantlemedia, NBC Universal, Televisa, and others across Latin America and the U.S. Hispanic market. She is currently producing the documentary The Enchantment of Consciousness, now traveling the international festival circuit. At the same time, she is developing her debut feature film, Mexican Pink, a deeply personal narrative, while leading her creative studio Malandra Films, a home for bold, borderless stories.
