Alexandra (Alle) Hsu is a director/producer, born and raised in Orange County, CA. She received her MFA from NYU Tisch School of the Arts (Singapore) in Film Directing and Production. Prior to Tisch, Alle earned her BA from Scripps College, double majoring in Media Studies (Film) and Asian Studies. Her thesis documentary for her undergraduate degree was entitled “Women: Cultural Revolution to Capitalist Revolution” and received the Pomona College Museum of Art, “China Insights” Exhibit Grant in 2011. In graduate school, Alle co-wrote, directed, and produced “Sophie” in Hong Kong, which had its World Premiere in Austin FF, and its international premiere at Foyle FF, both Oscar Qualifying Festivals. The film went on to screen at over fifteen film festivals worldwide. She recently directed another short film, a 1960s period film, “Our Way Home” (Long Island, New York), which had its premiere at Oscar Qualifying HollyShorts FF last year, and also screened at the Women in Film Shorts Night this January. Alle is in post-production on two other short films – “POP!,” her NYU thesis film, and “Rencontres Paysannes (Farmers Dating).” She is currently developing her first feature, Queens, as a resident at the SFFILM FilmHouse Residency.
