Anthony Carniello

Director, Writer, Editor, Producer

Anthony Carniello is an award-winning Canadian filmmaker, writer, and director dedicated to creating emotionally resonant stories that explore identity, resilience, and human connection. Drawing on his lived experience as an autistic filmmaker, he centers his work on underrepresented voices and authentic, character-driven narratives. He has written and directed the acclaimed short film Making a Friend, which earned over a dozen festival awards, including Best Drama Short at the Atlanta Underground Film Festival. His documentary Our Father was nominated at the Toronto Film School Festival of Film and selected by multiple international festivals. Anthony has also produced the award-nominated short Above Her Lips, and worked as an Office PA on the feature Stealing the Sky, directed by Megan Follows. A graduate of Toronto Film School and Mohawk College, Anthony brings strong editorial, production, and collaborative skills to every project. He is currently directing Dear Grandpa, It’s Michael, a long-form project inspired by true events that follows a young man on the autism spectrum as he navigates independence and self-discovery. Committed to both craft and community, Anthony strives to create films that foster empathy, inspire dialogue, and endure beyond the screen. His long-term goal is to develop socially impactful projects across film and digital platforms while continuing to advocate for inclusive storytelling within the industry.
