Alana Sanko is an award-winning creator, writer and executive producer who has written and developed for comedy, drama and animated series, as well as TV movie and network and cable pilots across multiple platforms for over two decades. Her credits began with the critically acclaimed CBS television series, MURPHY BROWN, starring Candace Bergen, which was named on the WGA’s list of 101 Best TV Series. Additional credits include the Annie nominated MTV animation series SPY GROOVE, which she was Head Writer on, the ABC comedy pilot, SEE JAYNE RUN, the Disney Channel Original Movie GET A CLUE, starring Lindsay Lohan and the WGA award-winning Nickelodeon series, JUST FOR KICKS which she created and produced with Executive Producer Whoopi Goldberg.
Alana has also written for numerous children’s series, including HBO Family’s A LITTLE CURIOUS, Disney Channel’s LITTLE EINSTEINS, PBS Kids’ DRAGON TALES and more. She was a Consulting Producer for HALF LIFE, the limited series winner of the NYC women’s initiative screenwriting competition #GREENLIGHTHER and currently is working on a short film and producing an independent feature. Alana teaches screenwriting for Episodic TV and Film at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Long Island University’s Graduate TV Writers Studio, Purchase College’s School of Film and Media Studies and the Westport Writers Workshop. She is a proud member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI), Société des Auteurs et Compositeurs Dramatiques (SACD), New York Women in Film & Television (NYWIFT) and the Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE).
