There is a burgeoning new viewing experience focused on serialized storytelling: the micro-series. This new storytelling experience is designed to be watched vertically, with 60 to 120-second episodes that are story- and character-driven, building into ultra-compelling season arcs. But, what makes a great idea for this medium, and what is different about writing in this format?
In this live online course, you’ll learn about the current landscape of micro-series, and the writing craft designed to engage audiences. Over the course of four weeks, you’ll develop your unique concept, write the first episode, map out your series, and develop your pitch. You’ll leave the course with the tools you need to refine your character and season arcs, polish your sample episode, and take your series out into the world.
In this course, you will:
- decode the micro-series landscape, formatting rules, and emerging industry opportunities.
- explore how to bend traditional genres and inject your unique, original voice into the constraints of short-form storytelling.
