This video is in a small rice shop in İstanbul/Büyükdere. I believe that the commissions of delivery platforms and the standardized consumption habits of franchise/chain brands are squeezing local businesses both economically and culturally. While chains expand with the promise of "the same taste, the same speed, the same experience," the survival of small businesses often means longer working hours, lower profits, and more labor-intensive work. The point of this video is to make visible, as concretely as possible, how this shop survives today, under what conditions it operates, and whose labor makes it possible.
