Set against the landscapes of Xinjiang province, my documentary explores a young girl's (DuCheng Yin) journey into learning her ethnic people's native language. This experience is then paralleled with my own journey of learning Spanish as a Mexican-American. Together, these stories work together to tell a narrative of culture, assimilation, and celebration. This project was shot on my father's camcorder, giving the film a home-made feel for a narrative that focuses on the importance of family heritage.
