The main engine in the creation of this project was the desire to be seen. In the current zeitgeist of being in a time pressure cooker to be "something.” I wanted to highlight those in our lives who authentically see us for who we are outside of likes, metrics, and clout. A layer on top of this is the plight of being a person of color trying infiltrate spaces that are by nature exclusionary and tend to only be inclusive in vain. In Waiting To Be, we discover that you don’t need permission to be exactly who you already are.
