About this Video
This film is inspired by my and friends stories who identified as “late bloomers.” It explores virginity, sex, and the contradictory pressures placed on women: losing it later is seen as shameful, yet also oddly glorified, while being sexually active invites constant judgment. There’s no winning. I also considered the pressure boys face to lose their virginity early or risk social exclusion. The film grew from curiosity and critique about how these expectations are formed. Finally, this short is inspired by my favorite genre: coming-of-age, because grappling with relationships and sex is a huge part of growing up.
