I'd always wanted to make a film involving zoot suits. Though they've always had a stigma/association with violence and gang activity. I wanted to tell a story that didn't relate to any of that. A few years ago, my mom showed me a picture of my grandfather in a zoot suit. "You look like him" she said. At the time, I had grown out a very thin, patchy mustache that I thought looked good. I didn't feel at par with my grandfather. And there, I found the story for 'Tito'.
