Shiao-ya Maggie Huang is a Taiwanese Latina film director & producer raised in Paraguay, Nicaragua, and Honduras, and currently based in Singapore and Taiwan. She blends filmmaking, screenwriting, stop-motion animation, and creative technologies to craft unique narratives. A graduate of NTU Singapore’s School of Art, Design & Media and a directing alumna of the BIFF x CHANEL Asian Film Academy, she directed Last Day of Us (2024), which premiered at the 29th Busan International Film Festival, 64th Cartagena International Film Festival, the 10th London Migration Film Festival, Queer Film Festival of Kathmandu, and more. Her documentary Farewell Chang Chun (2022) received the Taiwan Pitch Nonfiction Short Film Fund and was a Sony Future Filmmakers Awards finalist. Expanding on the project, she created Memories of Ming (2023), showcased at Ars Electronica. Maggie also works in animation, with her stop-motion short Drive with Me (2021) selected at Singapore Mental Health Film Festival, Inspiring Asia Micro Film Festival, and Singapore Youth Film Festival (used to be NYFA). Her work explores space, memory, and human movement, focusing on the Asian diaspora.
