I think all of us, as new filmmakers, give ourselves excuses when our films don't meet the quality we were expecting. It's stressful to not live up to our perceived potential, especially, when we have bet our entire lives on that belief. The Start is as meta a story as it can get. It is the story of how I came up with the film itself. With the commentary about how artists often cannibalize themselves for their stories, I think The Start perfectly represents this period of confusion, anxiety, fear, hurt, but ultimately, also excitement.
