I grew up in rural Kampong Thom province, before moving to Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s capital for higher education and work. Since then, I've witnessed the city's dramatic transformation due to globalization and urbanization. In response to poorly planned development, I made “The Orange” to explore the connections between Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville, a Cambodian coastal city now overtaken by casinos, abandoned buildings, and issues like cyber scams and human trafficking. The film reflects my personal memories and examines how international economic forces have changed these cities.
