This story is inspired by personal experience. I have had a complicated relationship with ADHD medication from the age of 11. Often medication is immediately presented as the solution to cognitive or behavioural issues like ADHD and, although there is a great awareness around cognitive issues themselves, I have found there to be very little discourse around the adverse effects of medication. The film aims to highlight that medication can create a difficult trade-off between different versions of a person. I have spoken to people with a range of cognitive and behavioural issues and found my experience was not unique.
