Presentando desgloses de escenas de sus galardonados documentales EL LUGAR MÁS PEQUEÑO y TEMPESTAD, y su muy esperado y próximo debut en el largometraje de ficción, NOCHE DE FUEGO, Huezo explora cómo los límites tradicionales en el lenguaje cinematográfico se pueden empujar a través de las disciplinas, y cómo sus antecedentes en No ficción le dio una visión única de cómo abordar su debut de ficción. Building Cinematic Worlds Across Documentary and Fiction
Join acclaimed Mexican filmmaker Tatiana Huezo for a live webinar in Spanish on working in both documentary and fiction. Featuring scene breakdowns from her award-winning documentaries EL LUGAR MÁS PEQUEÑO and TEMPESTAD, and her much-anticipated, forthcoming fiction feature debut, NOCHE DE FUEGO, Huezo explores how traditional boundaries in cinematic language can be pushed across disciplines, and how her background in nonfiction gave her unique insight into how to approach her fiction debut. Followed by Q&A.
This webinar is the second in a series of three webinars with leading Latin American filmmakers planned for the summer and will be conducted entirely in Spanish. Tatiana Huezo

Mexican-Salvadoran filmmaker Tatiana Huezo graduated from the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC) and has a Master Degree in Creative Documentary from the Universidad Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona.
She gained an international reputation with her first feature film, THE TINIEST PLACE (2011), which screened at more than 80 international festivals. Her work has been widely recognized around the world and acknowledged by the Mexican Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences with four Ariel awards, among them Best Documentary and Best Director for TEMPESTAD, which premiered in the Forum Section at the 66th Berlinale in 2016. TEMPESTAD was selected by the Mexican Academy to represent Mexico in the Academy Awards and the Goya Awards, where it was nominated to compete for Best Ibero-American film.
For the last few years, she has been teaching independently, giving conferences and imparting workshops in academic contexts like ECAM in Madrid, University of California Santa Barbara, The Green House in Israel, Georgetown University as well as the CCC, among others. Her academic activities also include editing the book “El Viaje, rutas y caminos andados para llegar a otro planeta” produced by the “CCC” and DocumentaMadrid.
She recently directed her first fiction film, NOCHE DE FUEGO.

Carlos A. Gutiérrez es cofundador y director ejecutivo Cinema Tropical, la organización sin fines de lucro con sede en Nueva York, líder en la presentación de cine latinoamericano en los Estados Unidos. Como curador ha presentado diversos ciclos de cine en varias instituciones culturales entre ellas el Museo de Arte Moderno de Nueva York, el Museo Guggenheim, Film at Lincoln Center, Film at BAM, y Anthology Film Archives. Él fue co-curador de la 53a edición del Seminario de Cine Robert Flaherty en el 2007, es actualmente director artístico del festival de cine Latin Wave del Museo de Bellas Artes de Houston y co-director de la serie Cinema Tucson en Arizona. Es miembro del consejo directivo de Film Forum y ha participado como miembro del jurado para varios festivales incluyendo Morelia, Nueva Orleans, Mar del Plata, SANFIC, Seattle, Ashland, Margaret Mead y DocsMX. Asimismo, ha fungido como nominador y panelista para el Fondo de Cine Documental de Sundance, el Fondo para Cine Latinoamericano del Instituto de Cine de Tribeca y la Iniciativa Artística Rolex para Mentores y Discípulos.

Carlos A. Gutiérrez is co-founder and executive director of Cinema Tropical, the New York-based media arts non-profit organization that has become the leading presenter of Latin American cinema in the U.S. As a guest curator, he has presented several film/video series at different cultural institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art, Film at Lincoln Center, the Guggenheim Museum, Film at BAM, and Anthology Film Archives. In 2007, he co-curated the 53rd edition of the Robert Flaherty Film Seminar and currently serves as artistic director of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston’s Latin Wave film festival and as co-director of the Cinema Tucsón series. He is a member of Film Forum’s Board of Directors, and has served as a member of the jury for various film festivals including Morelia, New Orleans, Mar del Plata, SANFIC, Seattle, Ashland, Margaret Mead, and DocsMX. He has served as both expert nominator and panelist for the Sundance Documentary Fund, the Tribeca Film Institute’s Latin America Media Arts Fund, and the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative.
