I remember signing away my right to choose before I knew what sex was…Before I got my first period…Before I understood my own anatomy. Growing up, purity contracts were a yearly promise to God to be a “good girl,” a woman of Christ at the age of 12 years old. I was told women are temptresses and that desires are sinful.

At a time when I was questioning my sexuality, I was handed a contract condemning it. These words took over a decade to heal and unlearn. My protagonist, Eliza rebels against these teachings much sooner than I did.
