Heidi Kindberg
Heidi Kindberg (she/her) is the Vice President of Sustainability at Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), responsible for overseeing the sustainable production program for scripted HBO- and Max-led originals globally, with the dual goals of reducing environmental impacts behind the scenes while increasing sustainability awareness on screen. She began this role in March 2020.
Dubbed HBOGreen, the program’s initiatives include carbon emissions tracking, best practices education, clean energy implementation, waste reduction, value chain alignment, and identifying on-screen environmental storytelling opportunities. Additionally, Kindberg continuously collaborates with industry partners through the Sustainable Entertainment Alliance (SEA) and the Producers Guild of America’s Green arm. Her efforts include spearheading university research projects, co-crafting industry-standard resources, chairing various committees, launching the Sustainable Entertainment Education Series, and co-founding the Green Film School Alliance.
Prior to joining WBD, Heidi served as the Director of Environmental Sustainability at Sony Pictures Entertainment. She serves on SEA’s executive committee, speaks at various events and institutions, wrote the introduction to Green Filmmaking, and has been a trained Climate Reality leader since 2018. Previously, she was an advisor to the Culver City Unified School District Environmental Sustainability Committee.
Kindberg also has a decade plus of physical production experience, growing from a PA to a producer across a variety of genres, and holds a B.S. in Telecommunications & Film and an M.A. in Urban Sustainability.
